A high-ranking government was not pleased about the attack by the KI-Media website which opposes and attacks government leaders very recently regarding the border problem between Cambodian and Vietnam. The website accused the high-ranking government leaders of being traitors etc…

The Cambodian government plans to shut down KI or the KI website (Khmer Intelligence KI-Media) at the end of December as this website publishes pictures of Hun Xen, Heng Xamrin, Chea Xim and sVar Kim Hong, and accusing them of being traitors of the nation who sold lands to Vietnam.

sVar Kim Hong said briefly on 16 December: “I asked the government to shut down this website on 31 December, soon.”

He said that he is not yet confirming whether he will sue the administrators of this website or not.

Nobody knows where the KI website – or known for its full name of Khmer Intelligence KI-Media – is based at, only that it is supporting the opposition SRP party. It published and attacked Hun Xen, Heng Xamrin, Chea Xim and Var Kim Hong during the past two days, i.e. on 15 and 16 December 2010.

The KI website is noted for publishing information, cartoons and poems critical of the Cambodian government on a daily basis. The publication is made by a group of anonymous people.

SRP MP Kim Sour Phirith, SRP spokesman, said that everybody has the right to learn, listen and receive information: “I think that information must be published. If the government thinks that this information affects its honor, it can sue against this newspaper on what is construed as false information.”

Kim Sour Phirith said that reporters have the right to support the opposition party when he was asked if KI-Media belongs to the opposition or not.

The attack and accusation by KI-Media took place shortly after a group of SRP MPs went to visit border posts no. 109, 108 and 103 in Memot district, Kampong Cham province, on 14 December.

Vietnamese cops banned the group of SRP Mps to visit border post no. 103 located at Daung Roat village, Roung commune, Memot district, Kampong Cham province.

Son Chhay claimed that border posts were planted inside Cambodian territories, but sVar Kim Hong claimed that it is otherwise.
